Annual Meeting of the American Society of Pharmacognosy
The Organizing Committee for the 2013 annual meeting of the American Society of Pharmacognosy is pleased to be hosting this event in Saint Louis, Missouri, which is centrally located in the middle of the United States. This annual meeting will be held in the heart of downtown Saint Louis on the mighty Mississippi River at the Hyatt Regency Saint Louis at the Arch. The hotel and venue for the annual meeting is situated next to the famous Saint Louis Gateway Arch and within walking distance of many downtown attractions and restaurants, including the Saint Louis Cardinals' Busch Stadium, Citygarden and City Museum.
In consideration of making this annual meeting cost effective for doctoral and post-doctoral students and hopefully entire laboratores, we have obtained reasonable rates at the Hyatt Regency while keeping the quality of the venue at its highest.
The conference will kick off with three workshops on Saturday which focus on NMR, botanicals and microbiology. The scientific program includes advanced analytical technologies emphasizing their importance to the long term success of natural products and the traditional topics of natural products in drug discovery, marine and microbial natural products, botanicals and ethnobotany. This year's plenary lectures will highlight remarkable successes involved in natural product synthesis, recently commercialized drugs inspired from natural products and a one-of-a-kind perspective of the evolution of NMR over the last 50 years. Several noteworthy sessions include new anticancer therapeutics derived from natural products and natural products enhancing the experience of pet foods.
For the conference, we have planned several exciting social activities. The traditional Saturday opening mixer will be at the Hyatt followed on Monday by an "Evening at the Gardens" at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. There are several interesting tours available, including the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball park and the Anheuser Busch Brewery. With access to free venues in scenic Forrest Park, such as the zoo and museums, downtown jazz clubs and microbreweries, a variety of entertainment venues are abundant for all.
On behalf of the Scientific Organizing Committee, we are delighted to have the opportunity to create a wonderful ASP program and we do hope you will "Meet Me in Saint Louis!"
